The Barn was built by the original owner, William Macintosh in the 1850’s. The basement walls are of cut limestone, the structure is mortise and tenon joints held together with wooden dowel pins. It was originally used as a cattle barn. Then later a milking barn and later yet a horse barn.
The Barn at Serra Valley Farms is a top of the line event center located in Mount Airy, Maryland. A gorgeous,

The gardens encompass a full acre surrounding the house, and include areas for the ceremony, an area for reception and hors d’ouvres which quickly breaks down to accommodate dancing, and a large lawn area for dining. In 2003, through the efforts of a number of partners and donors, The Howard County Conservancy was able to save the historic Montjoy (Farm) Barn. Dating from the 1700’s, this barn was located on an 85-acre property in Ellicott City that was slated for development.
The site had been listed on Preservation Howard County’s Ten Most Endangered Historic Sites since 2001. Conservancy Board member Donna Mennitto spear-headed the effort to save the structure. With funding from Winchester Homes, Elm Street Builders, Preservation Howard County, and private donors, the Conservancy hired Glenn James of Craftwright to painstakingly label and disassemble the barn, move it into storage, and begin repairs. In addition, an architectural historian, Kenneth M. Short, was contracted to complete a historic and architectual analysis of the barn.

La Grange offers numerous locations for your Wedding Ceremony to be held on site, inside or outdoors. Choose from a wood Pergola, landscaped areas, the natural ravine or even in front of the traditional red machine shed. All offer unique photo opportunities.
Dinner is served in the lower level of the barn by local caterers. Dancing will follow in the upper level hay loft, on the original wood floors, complete with a built in bar and air conditioning. Then take a break from dancing to enjoy a bonfire underneath a star filled country sky. Your Wedding will be an intimate event, with the venue exclusively yours, 12 noon – 11 pm.

The Barn has 1,300 square feet of heated and air-conditioned space that can accommodate up to 64 people seated and 100 in reception format. The renovation process retained the Barn’s original plaster walls and wood-floored loft, creating a charming and intimate atmosphere to host your event. Additional space is available by using an outdoor tent placed on the lovely grassed terrace adjacent to the Barn and overlooking the Pine Mountain range.
A charming auxiliary building is open to the terrace and houses modern restrooms. All of the gathering places are handicap accessible and there is ample parking. The driveways have been designed for tour buses and a convenient drop-off/pick-up area is directly in front of the Barn’s main entrance.
For groups up to 100, the winery Tank Room floor space can be combined with the Cave Room or Tasting Room rental to provide a unique venue for your event. Our facility rental fees are charged by the hour for use of a single room and mulitple room combinations. These space combinations lend themselves well to cocktail party setups, wine and food pairing stations as well as a beautiful sit-down dinner for up to 50 guests.
